  • Planning, managing, and tracking of major activities across the early and  late stage across the portfolio working collaboratively with cross-functional (cross-company, as needed) teams driving these efforts
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive plans/timelines and dashboard reporting
  • Lead the development and execution of complex project plans from project initiation to close out 
  • Create / maintain metrics dashboard to report out on Research & Development strategic, operational, and financial performance against targets, including recommending metrics and thresholds 
  • Drive and participate in time bound, tightly scoped, operational improvement projects which drive cross functional Research & Development business improvement
  • Measure and monitor R&D performance of:  portfolio, projects/initiatives, goals (cross functional and functional), vendors, and benchmarking against industry standards
  • Use performance data and dashboards to escalate issues to senior management & triage operational excellence projects
  • Develop and implement the R&D Project Management Office (PMO) whose focus will include both early and late stage portfolio management & planning efforts.
  • Responsible for strategic planning, leadership and execution of clinical filing plans/timelines for late stage drug programs; perform quality control function for submissions
  • Document project efficiencies/inefficiencies, drive continuous improvement process to optimize effectiveness and rollout across the organization.  Develop and maintained infrastructure for best practice in the clinical filing execution framework (processes, tools, templates, best practices) working closely with functional leaders
  • Develop, implement and train on standard process practices to improve efficiencies and ensures these practices are consistently employed across all drug development programs
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure adequate resources (FTE, temp, vendor, etc.) are allocated across the department to support the portfolio.  
  • Develop departmental Standard Operating Procedures and requirements documents, as needed


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in R&D operations/project and/or program or portfolio management role
  • Direct experience coordinating and leading delivery of INDs and NDAs, specific experience in coordinating clinical submissions is highly desirable
  • Strong background in the utilization of electronic tools to track, develop, and report on timelines, dashboards, and other reporting/tracking software plans
  • Direct experience in coordinating portfolio management efforts across R&D organizations
  • Strong understanding of functional roles and drug development process
  • Life sciences degree strongly preferred; advanced degree preferred
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving mindset
  • Strong project management skills and alliance management experience required
  • Ability to make or drive decisions rapidly when the situation calls for it.
  • Ability to identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and drive effective partnerships across functions
  • Outstanding relationship building and communication skills, including ability to navigate throughout the organization rapidly and with individuals at all levels
  • Managerial experience and proven effectiveness within matrix structures and within cross functional global teams.
